Look for top Oregon athlete at Simplot Games

Jarvis Jefferson, a sophomore from Grants Pass, Oregon, won the 2009 USATF Oregon Jr. Olympic Championship Discus and 12lb Shot Put events.

Top California athletes ready to represent at the 32nd Simplot Games

Athletes to keep an eye on from California include:

· Ciarra Brewer, a junior from Union City, California. Brewer took home the Simplot Games title in 2009. Last year she also placed first in the Nike Indoor Nationals and the California Interscholastic Federation California State Track and Field Championships with a personal best 42’ 11.5” mark. She set the National Age 14 record and a National Sophomore indoor record in 2008.

· Ashton Purvis, a senior from Oakland, California. Purvis is the nation’s top ranked sprinter in both the 60 and 200 meter races. She is looking to win the Simplot Games for her third time in both events. Purvis was the bronze medalist in the World Youth Games in 2009. In 2008 set the sophomore world indoor record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.38.

· Trinity Wilson, a sophomore from Oakland, California is ranked first nationally in the 60 meter-hurdles. She is looking to defend her Simplot Games title from last year where she also set the national freshman record with a time of 8.44 seconds.
