Alex Paul, a senior, from Boulder, Colorado, wins the boys’ 800 meters race at the 32nd Simplot Games

Alex Paul, a senior, from Boulder, Colorado, edged out the rest of the competition by winning the boys’ 800-meter event with a time of 1:57.46.

Paul was more than satisfied with his performance. “I felt great today. It felt smooth,” he said.

Paul set a new personal best time with his performance in the finals, but said he has more work to do, stating that he wants to go under 1:52 by the end of his senior year.

The second place finisher was J.J. Mcghee, a junior, from Mountain View, California, with a time of 1:58.15. Third was Rya Van Portfliet, a senior, from Aurora, Colorado, with a time of 1:58.44.

  1. This guy is one to watch, I've been following his progress since he broke the St Vrain district 1600m middle school record by 10 seconds a few years ago
