The Gardena Core Speed Track Club win the girls 1600-meter sprint medley relay at 2010 Simplot Games

The Gardena Core Speed Track Club from Gardena, California, took home the girls’ 1600-meter sprint medley relay title at the 32nd annual Simplot Games.

The Gardena girls team consisted of Alexis Reed and Maya Brown, who both ran the 200, plus Christina Matthews running the 400 and Chimere Ezumah anchoring the 800. The girls came across with a time of 4:10.47. Although Brown was happy with the victory, she wasn’t too satisfied with the time.

“Our time was just okay,” says Brown, “But we had fun.”

Coming in second was the Heritage Track Club from San Jose, California, with a time of 4:11.58. Third was Cheyenne Central Track Club from Cheyenne, Wyoming, with a time of 4:13.84.
